Deep clean of stunning quarry tiles in Winterbourne Monkton.

We were lucky enough to return to this beautiful cottage in Winterbourne Monkton that we did some carpet, rug and upholstery cleaning at last week. This time we were asked to give these beautiful quarry tiles a deep clean and a bit of TLC.

Hard floors can often be a two technician job, as this one was. There are lots of processes that really benefit from two pairs of hands!

Our process for hard flooring typically includes;

– Dry extraction/vacuuming
– Spot/stain treatments, as necessary
– Pre-spray specific to the type of flooring
– Rotary & oscillating pad agitation
– Rinse extraction
– Finishing touches (usually buff & dry)
– Sealing where necessary

The next day, once the floors are completely dry, Joanne reattended to seal these floors. This will give them lasting protection and increase resistance to staining and soiling. As you can see from the images below it also makes them look stunning.

Our technician got to work cleaning the carpets, using our eco-friendly, deep cleaning techniques. In the picture on the left, you can see the rinse extraction process bringing this carpet back to life. This is the final step in the deep cleaning process after pre-testing, vacuuming, spot and stain treatment, an eco-sanitising pre spray and rotary agitation. All of these steps combined are what help us to achieve our exceptional results.

Below you can see the small water claw being used to give the upholstery the same deep clean.

The rugs were up next and what a beautiful view our technician had to enjoy whilst using the rotary agitator on this rug to remove all the dirt trapped in the rug fibres.

Our process for rugs is similar to carpets and upholstery, however there are a few extra steps. These include vacuuming both sides, back-dusting, wool safe pre treatments and fringe cleaning. The dyes used in rugs can often be more troublesome in terms of dye migration so extra care needs to be taken by our experienced technicians to preserve the rugs vibrancy and to deliver a thorough clean.

With the weather on our side, these large rugs were able to be left out in the garden to dry out after the deep cleaning process. Usually, we would allow 2-6 hours for the rugs to be fully dry, and sometimes large rugs also require an air mover to ensure they fully dry out. Being able to be placed out in the sunshine will speed this process up considerably, and no air mover was needed.

If you want to take advantage of the beautiful weather we are having at the moment to accelerate drying time for your own carpet, rug or upholstery cleaning, please use the contact button below to book in.

Remarkable deep clean of tiled floor in Norton St Philip.

This week we were called to a cottage in Norton St Philip that is undergoing some renovations and needed a deep, green clean of this beautiful tiled floor.

After our usual process of a survey and quotation, our experienced technician Joanne went to work to revitalise these tiles.

As you can see from the image on the right, the tiles were lacking vibrancy and were soiled. Joanne got to work initially sweeping the tiles to remove any surface level dirt. The tiles were then cleaned using an eco-friendly, powerful solution to release and remove any ground in dirt. A grout brush is then used to really get in to the harder to reach grouted areas where dirt and soil can often get impacted. The slurry and dirt was extracted and then rinsed.

After allowing at least 24 hours to make sure the tiles have thoroughly dried, Joanne revisited the cottage to apply sealant. The sealing of tiles after cleaning is a crucial part of the process, it both enhances the finished look bringing the tiles back to their gleaming best but is also vital for protection for the tiles. It provides a layer of protection from dirt, water and oil that will help to keep the tiles looking at their best for longer. For your tiles at home, you can tell when the sealant is starting to break down when the floor starts to absorb more liquid, this means it is overdue for a good deep clean and reseal.

These tiles have been brought back to their best, they look colourful and, most importantly, clean again. If you have a tiled floor, or any other hard floor that is in need of cleaning, you can find out more about our processes by clicking the button below.

How to keep your carpets looking great for longer.

When thinking about maintaining the upkeep of your home, we often think about decorating, garden makeovers, possibly a kitchen or bathroom renovation but the flooring, specifically the carpets are often overlooked.

The life expectancy of a carpet varies hugely based on the usage & care shown to it over the first few years following installation. Allowing soiling & stains to go untreated cuts their life-span down significantly.

Should you vacuum every day? Yes, nearly 85% of dirt found in carpets is bought in on peoples footwear. This dirt then sinks into the fibers of the carpet where it accumulates & therefore becomes more difficult to remove. The best way to beat this is to vacuum every day, preferably using a high quality vacuum cleaner.

Vacuuming carpets can also release any allergens that are embedded within the fibres into the air where they are then inhaled & potentially cause allergy symptoms. Choosing a machine that has a air (HEPA) filter will also effectively remove allergens & a fully sealed system to prevent them from purposely being released.

Conducting an annually or bi-annually professional carpet clean is also recommended. This involves a much more thorough deep clean & will ensure any remaining soiling is removed.

Always use a certified company for a hot water extraction to ensure that it is done properly.

If you have a spillage on your carpet, it will most likely stain the carpet if not treated straight away. Applying a good stain protector can significantly reduce the likelihood of spillages causing permanent staining, as long as you are able to address the issue fairly soon.

A stain protector can be applied after a professional clean has been performed or once you have bought a new carpet. Either way, a quality stain protector will help protect your carpets for longer.

Carpet repairs are something that doesn’t often cross peoples minds. However if you have damage to your carpet such as a burn, hole or permanent stain, this can potentially be repaired.

A successful repair depends on their being a donor piece of the same carpet available. This can either be an off-cut or taken from a cupboard or an out of the way area. Ideally there should be more donor carpet than the area that needs repairing.

Superb upholstery results in Clevedon

We were asked to come and help urgently in this home in need in Clevedon, North Somerset this week. Sadly, a child being unwell had caused the carpets and the sofa to have some pretty unsanitary staining. This clean was for a member of our admin team so she won’t be offended!

As you can see from the picture on the right the sofa had a lot of marks and staining and was in need of rejuvenation.

The arms of this sofa were in particularly bad condition so our experienced technician, Sam, used an enzyme solution to help break down all the grease and staining. For particularly difficult stains, like this one caused by bodily fluids such as urine and vomit, the enzyme solution is used to break down and remove the deep down grime and bacteria. This provides powerful cleaning whilst still being environmentally friendly.

Sam then moved on after treating this sofa to using the water claw to rinse extract all the dirt lifted by the enzyme.

As you can see from the below before and after image, Sam managed to get the arm of this sofa mark free and looking new again. Given the nature of these stains and how long they had been present these results are very impressive.

After the deep clean, this sofa is looking as good as new and the owner can rest assured it is now sanitary with no hidden nasties lurking!

Sam then moved on to a deep, green clean of the carpets throughout the house. Again, there were some areas that had staining from vomit, general footfall and wear and tear.

There were some areas of particularly stubborn staining from recent building works going on. The image on the right shows just how nicely these carpets came up.

Domestic carpets can hold a lot of dirt that we often don’t realise. Life gets busy and we get used to the marks on the carpet and even sometimes forget the colour they originally were! Why not book our Green Man team to make your home feel back to its best again.
