We were recently contacted by a local church who were interested in having their commercial carpets, upholstery & hard flooring cleaned in time for the busy festive season. As with all enquires of a commercial nature, we arranged for one of our trained technicians to call out & conduct a short survey so that we could prepare a plan for the cleaning & provide the customer with a comprehensive quote. Thanks to that successful survey, most of the green man team retuned yesterday for a whole day of productivity.
This was a large job with many different areas to clean so the team split into smaller teams & worked in different areas to maximize efficiency.
Starting with the upholstery, there were 280 chairs that required cleaning! The cleaning process for these started with a thorough vacuum & stain treatment was then applied as necessary. This solution was left to dwell along with a eco sanitising pre-spray, which also helps to break down the staining as well as killing any bacteria.
The chairs where then gently agitated using a mixture of hot water & cleaning solutions.
Finally, it was time to rinse extract the chairs. This is where all the remaining soiling, products & hot water are removed from the chairs.

The next stage of the clean was to tackle the carpets in the church entrance, stairs, two landings, and the main and lower halls as well as the community hall (x2 large spaces). Cleaning of some of these areas was made more time consuming by the fact that the team had to move the newly clean chairs around the room as they were cleaning the carpets!
The cleaning method for the carpets was very much the same as for the upholstery. The only real difference being that a large rotary agitation machine was used to agitate the carpets rather than a handheld tool.
Carpets tend to hold a higher soil load than upholstery so the extraction process is often repeated to ensure maximum results.

The final part of the clean was to see to the vast array of hard flooring. This included vinyl flooring in the toilets & kitchen areas plus some tiled floors & the wood floor margin that ran around the carpet. All of these floors were cleaned using a similar method, however the cleaning products used varied to suit each individual type of flooring.
The cleaning method started with sweeping the hard floors to remove as much surface debris as possible. A cleaning solution matched to the type of flooring is then added to the rotary machine which gently scrubs the floor whilst applying the solution with added hot water.
Once the embedded soiling has been released from the floor, the wet vac is then bought into to extract the resulting slurry.
The floor is then rinsed to ensure any remaining dirt & debris has been collected.
During our time at the church, we used numerous air-movers to help speed the drying process up on all the floors & upholstery.

Here are some further images & videos that we captured at various points throughout the day.

A very productive & successful day carried out by the Green Man team which earned them all a well deserved pint! Well done everyone!
