We were contacted in mid-December by a primary school in Oxfordshire who were looking to have some of their carpets cleaned during the Christmas break. They were looking to have a number of classroom carpets cleaned as well as the main corridor which had been subject to a leak. Unfortunately there was no time to conduct a survey of the premises but thanks to photos, floor plans & dimensions, we were able to put a quote together which resulted in our technician Jake, spending a productive day at the school last week carrying out the cleaning.
As I’m sure you can imagine, carpets within a school environment are subject to a lot of footfall & general wear which has resulted in a multitude of stains.
Our technician Jake, had a walk through of the school to see what was ahead of him before getting started.
The clean began with thoroughly vacuuming the carpets to pick up as much surface debris as possible.
Then stain treatment was applied to all necessary areas & left to dwell to ensure the stain breaks down as much as possible.
An eco-sanitising pre spray was then applied to the carpets & like the previous step, this was also given time to dwell. This solution not only kills bacteria but also helps to release soling from the carpet fibres thus breaking down stains even further.
Once enough time had passed, it was time to use the rotary agitation machine. This machine agitates the carpets using a mixture of hot water & cleaning solutions. The brushes on the bottom of the machine help to work these liquids into the carpets & continue to breakdown any soiling.
The last step in the cleaning process is the rinse extraction. This heavy duty machine rinses the carpets & then extracts all the remaining hot water, cleaning solutions & soiling from the carpets.
In some instances, this part of the process is repeated if there is a particularly heavy soil load.
These before & after photos either side here show the great improvements that Jake made to the carpets. They were certainly looking cleaner & fresher as a result of his hard work & were ready to welcome the children back for a new term in January.
