We were recently contacted by an office manager of a commercial building in Bristol who were looking to have the concrete floor on the stairs & landings cleaned. As with any commercial enquiry, we arranged a suitable time to go & conduct a short survey of the concrete to ascertain the customers exact requirements, this enables us to see what can be achieved & supply them with a quotation.
We were pleased to have our quote accepted & earlier this month, we sent two of our technicians to carry out the clean.
After inspecting the area again, our team set to work by thoroughly sweeping the stairs/landings to remove as much surface debris as possible.
They then tested the porosity of the concrete , this is done by applying a small amount of water & see how quickly it is absorbed to ensure it is suitable for cleaning.
Then it was time to carefully remove the paint marks & historic soiling build up manually using scrapers.
The next step is to bring in the weighted rotary agitation machine, a pad is put onto the bottom of this machine which scrubs the floor whilst applying a mixture of hot water & a concrete specific cleaning solution. A wet vac is then used to pick up all the resulting slurry.
Once this has been completed, the floor is left to dry overnight before we return the following day to apply a concrete specific seal. We request that foot traffic is kept to a minimum during this time to avoid new soiling being walked onto the floors.
The following day, our two technicians returned to apply the seal to the floor. The seal used hardens the concrete & it inhibits organic growth & damp penetration on concrete, especially if the concrete is external.
I think it is far to say that the difference our technicians made to this floor was outstanding. It looked so much cleaner & brighter. It will also last longer now that the seal has been applied & keep it looking nicer for longer.
