Excellent commercial upholstery and stain removal cleaning in Chippenham.

Ollie and Joanne teamed up this week for a large commercial upholstery and stain removal cleaning job in this village hall in Chippenham. There was a vast amount of upholstered chairs, in varying conditions, that needed a thorough, deep clean.

As you can see from the video on the right, Joanne and Ollie got themselves organised with different areas for different aspects of the clean. All whilst making sure the flooring underneath is protected with tarpaulins.

Once set up, Joanne and Ollie could move on to the first step in the process, a thorough vacuum to remove all surface level dirt. After this it was on to finding and treating all the spots and stains.

As you can see from the images above, there are numerous steps in the stain removal process. Depending on what the stain is, which we often do not know, there are different methods to be used.

At home, when you know what the stain has been caused by, we have a helpful guide with some tips and tricks here.

For our technicians, their experience and knowledge of their products alongside pretesting, assists them in knowing where to start with tackling stains.

After all the stains have been addressed and an eco-sanitising pre-spray has been applied, it is time for the rinse extraction.

This is the most deep and powerful phase of the cleaning process and where the embedded dirt and bacteria is removed and addressed.

Fabulous upholstery deep cleaning in Swindon

Joanne has been hard at work in Swindon this week, this customer had several items of upholstery in need of the Green Man cleaning process.

Green Man upholstery cleaning in Swindon

As you can see, Joanne had a lot of cushions to tackle at this job, so she set up a protected area of flooring where she could begin the deep cleaning process, whilst ensuring the floor below is protected and the cushions are going onto a clean area so they do not pick up dirt once they have been cleaned.

Once Joanne had organised the space she was going to clean in and decided on a plan of action she was able to initiate the Green Man deep cleaning process.

This includes;

  • Vacuuming
  • Assessment and treatment of spots and stains
  • Application of a sanitising pre-treatment
  • Agitation
  • Rinse extraction

You can read more on our upholstery cleaning process here.

All our work is environmentally friendly and all our technicians are fully trained and insured.

One of the biggest challenges in cleaning such a large amount of upholstery is ensuring the cushions and frames dry out fully as quickly as possible.

As you can see from the images, Joanne has positioned all the cushions to allow as much air flow around the cushions as possible. This will decrease the drying time. The blue machine you can see is an air mover, this ensures there is a large volume of air moving in and around the cushions to dry them as quickly as possible.

For smaller jobs where an air mover is not necessary there are other things that can be done to decrease the drying time. Naturally, you would hope the warm conditions of the summer would improve drying times but this is not to be counted on in England! We do advise where possible that customers leave windows open and the heating on, this ensures items can dry fully as fast as possible.

The owners of this property were delighted with the results of Joanne’s upholstery deep cleaning and can rest assured that their furniture is hygienic, sanitised and more resistant to staining.

Successful end of tenancy carpet clean in Swindon

We receive many calls from tenants & landlords that require end of tenancy carpet cleaning to ensure the property is left looking cleaner & fresher ready for viewings & new tenants. For many tenants, having the carpets professionally cleaned is stipulated in their contract & we can help you with this!

Last week, our technician, Joanne was called to an address in Swindon to carry out an end of tenancy carpet clean for the outgoing tenant. The property had already been vacated & was unfurnished, meaning that Joanne could really tackle the carpets.

End of tenancy carpet cleaning 1

On arrival, Joanne toured the house to have a good look at the carpets & determine the right treatment to bring them back to looking their best potential condition.

As this was an unfurnished property, you get a really good view of the carpets & can see how much the areas that have regular footfall differ from the unused areas of carpet.

As you can see, the carpets were in need of a deep clean & therefore our standard process of traditional rinse extraction was used in this property.

The carpets were all vacuumed first before any notable stains were treated. The customer had already informed us on this occasion of stains in the hallway & lounge, however our technicians will treat any that they see as the move around the rooms.

Next, the carpets are treated with an eco-sanitising pre spray before the rotary agitation machine is used to bring any debris to the surface.

The final step of the process is the traditional rinse extraction, otherwise know as steam cleaning. Depending on the level of soiling, this final step is sometimes repeated to ensure a good a finish as possible.

Did you know we also clean limestone floors? Limestone floors are a beautiful choice in a variety of different areas, whilst also looking stunning, it can be hard wearing and durable.

However, due to the natural texture often found in the tiles they can trap soil and debris which accumulates and proves hard to remove with home methods.

117 Office Chairs deep-cleaned using Eco-friendly solutions!

Last week, our director Jon & Swindon-based technician Joanne travelled to Newbury, Berkshire to carry out a deep-clean of 117 office chairs. This was part of an office end-of-tenancy for the company involved, as they were planning to take these chairs with them to their next location.

How to deep-clean an office chair…

These particular chairs had solid plastic arms & backs, and a mesh fabric seat. This type of material provides ventilation & comfort, but can act as a net for debris. Having surveyed the chairs, we opted for a combination clean that used manual cleaning/wiping for the hard plastic surfaces, as well as traditional rinse extraction for the fabric.

To begin with, we prepped the chairs & addressed any notable staining. Usually, office furniture will have some coffee/ tea stains. However, in this instance, we didn’t encounter hardly any beverage based stains.

What we did find was quite a lot of chocolate debris that had lodged into the matrix of the material. As well as initial vacuuming, we found that our carpet awl (which we would normally use for carpet repair) came in very useful for pushing any stubborn bits through fabric to drop to the carpet below.

Once we had treated any stains, we then applied our eco-friendly, sanitising pre-spray to the fabric, agitated it into the material, then left it for the required 15 minutes dwell time. This is important, as it allows the solution sufficient contact time to break down soils & greases.

The hard plastics of the chair were addressed with the same solution, but applied using a terry towel. This proved to be very effective and a large amount of greasy soils were absorbed into the towels.

Once the preparatory work was complete on the initial batch of 40 chairs, we set up the extraction machines.

Unusually, some of the office staff were working at the far end of the office, so we partitioned the machines off into a vacant office & ran long lengths of hoses to limit noise as much as possible.

The video below gives some idea of the set-up…

How effective are eco-friendly cleaning solutions?

As part of operating a commercial cleaning company, we strive to continually improve the way we do things. This includes sourcing the latest & most effective eco-friendly cleaning solutions. Not all of this tech is new & the solution we used on this job relies on a similar action to micellar cleaning, more often associated with the cosmetics industry.

With this product, the powerful micelle cleaning action causes fats, greases, oils, proteins and sugars to repel from the surface so that they can be rinsed away with water, without damaging or reacting with the cleaning surface. It is not a typical caustic detergent or petroleum solvent, therefore it will not damage or react with the cleaning surface.

A fantastic level of clean.

The finished result was excellent.

It is satisfying when we manage to specify the right chemistry & method so that a high level of clean is achieved. The short clip below shows the finished chairs ready for collection and removal to the company’s new office space…

Successful & effective commercial carpet deep clean

On a warm & sunny Saturday, two of our technicians were hard at work at a commercial studio in Bath. The bright & contemporary office requested a deep clean of their carpets throughout to remove some visible stains as well as ensuring they were clean & sanitised.

It was great to return to a office space where we have cleaned the carpets on a yearly basis over the past 3 years. Giving the carpets a thorough deep clean once a year keeps them looking better for longer.

This office & studio had a mixture of carpets including some nice bright & bold designs which were a little grubby in places. High traffic areas such as reception, walkways & under desks are prone to dirt building up & benefit from a yearly deep clean.

There are many steps involved in our process of giving your carpets a successful deep clean, one of those is to treat any stains, as necessary. As you can see in the left hand picture above, there was some heavy staining in this area due to a recent flood, however successfully pre-treating this meant that the finished result left it looking as good as new. Both of the pictures shown above demonstrate how effective each step of the process is, including the final task of traditional rinse extraction which produces very satisfying results & is successful in restoring the carpet to it’s original brightness.

Visit to a beautiful cottage for carpets, rugs and upholstery cleaning.

This week we have had the pleasure of visiting this beautiful cottage in Winterbourne Monkton for a variety of cleaning jobs. This beautiful location and sunny weather not only makes any job a lot more pleasurable but also accelerates drying time.

Our technician got to work cleaning the carpets, using our eco-friendly, deep cleaning techniques. In the picture on the left, you can see the rinse extraction process bringing this carpet back to life. This is the final step in the deep cleaning process after pre-testing, vacuuming, spot and stain treatment, an eco-sanitising pre spray and rotary agitation. All of these steps combined are what help us to achieve our exceptional results.

Below you can see the small water claw being used to give the upholstery the same deep clean.

The rugs were up next and what a beautiful view our technician had to enjoy whilst using the rotary agitator on this rug to remove all the dirt trapped in the rug fibres.

Our process for rugs is similar to carpets and upholstery, however there are a few extra steps. These include vacuuming both sides, back-dusting, wool safe pre treatments and fringe cleaning. The dyes used in rugs can often be more troublesome in terms of dye migration so extra care needs to be taken by our experienced technicians to preserve the rugs vibrancy and to deliver a thorough clean.

With the weather on our side, these large rugs were able to be left out in the garden to dry out after the deep cleaning process. Usually, we would allow 2-6 hours for the rugs to be fully dry, and sometimes large rugs also require an air mover to ensure they fully dry out. Being able to be placed out in the sunshine will speed this process up considerably, and no air mover was needed.

If you want to take advantage of the beautiful weather we are having at the moment to accelerate drying time for your own carpet, rug or upholstery cleaning, please use the contact button below to book in.
