This week started with our Bristol technician, Grace carrying out a great clean on domestic upholstery in Long Ashton which consisted of a 2 seater & 5 seater sofa. Although there were no overall concerns with either sofa, the customer was looking to have them cleaner, fresher & sanitised!

The first step in the cleaning process is to pre-test the fabric of the sofas to determine the material composition. Not only does this indicate if they can be cleaned via our rinse extraction method of cleaning but also dictates which of our cleaning products will achieve the best results.

Once this step had been completed it was time to move onto the cleaning which started with a thorough vacuum of the whole sofa.

As you can see in these photos, the arms were certainly looking a little grubby & had various stains so Grace tackled these by applying a stain treatment & left this to dwell.

An eco-sanitising pre-spray was also applied & again left to dwell.

Both solutions help to breakdown the stains as well as the eco-sanitising pre-spray killing any bacteria.

It was then time to gently agitate the sofa which is done by hand. This step of the process uses hot water & cleaning solutions which are worked into the fabric of the sofa to ensure a thorough clean. The final part of the clean is the traditional rinse extraction, this is where all the water, cleaning products & soiling is removed from the sofa.

Once the 5 seater clean had been completed & left to dry, it was time to repeat the exact same process on the 2 seater sofa!

The customer was so pleased with the results that they asked Grace if she could also clean this rug whilst she was there. Luckily, Grace did have time so set to work on the rug.

The cleaning method is very similar to that used on the upholstery. The only real differences being that tarpaulins are placed on the floor prior to cleaning to protect it, the rugs are then vacuumed front & back and the cleaning solutions are changed to those more suitable for rugs.

For drying, we recommend hanging rugs on the back of garden chairs or over a banister as this will speed up the drying process rather than leaving them flat on the floor.

As you can see from the image on the left, the rug was looking much cleaner as a result of Grace’s efforts.

Lastly, I am going to leave you with this wonderfully sped up version of Grace cleaning the cushions of the sofa as it shows each step of the cleaning process being applied!
