Survey

For most maintenance work, we will organise a survey of your floor – this is necessary to determine what condition it is in, whether there are any structural/repair concerns and also what type of seal it might require. It’s not just stone that needs sealing!

All stone tiles must be sealed. This usually refers to an impregnating seal which is absorbed into the stone & improves the stone’s resistance to water & spillages. Over time, particularly with regular mopping, this type of seal will deteriorate and require topping up. Our teams regularly carry out this type of work, which is always done after stone cleaning.

Some stone floors have an additional topical seal. This is a topcoat which protects the stone from surface damage like scratching/ scuffing. It will often add a level of shine to the floor.

Modern LVT type floors (such as Amtico & Karndean) are designed so that the protective top layer can be renewed every few years (depending on levels of wear). While this work can be carried out by the homeowner, we would advise getting a professional in (as it can get quite messy/ tricky!).
