This week saw our Gloucester based technician, Pete travel to Dursley to carry out a deep clean on a customers upholstery. This consisted of 2 x 2 seater sofas & an armchair which the customer described as a little grubby especially on the arms.
On arrival, the first thing Pete did was pre-test the fabric of the upholstery. This tells him what kind of material he is working on & which of our cleaning methods would be best suited to get optimum results. On this occasion it showed that a rinse extraction (wet clean) would be suitable.
The first step in the cleaning process is to thoroughly vacuum the upholstery to remove any surface debris.
Next up, it is time to treat any stains that the technician can see. These solutions are then given time to dwell to help breakup as much of the stain as possible
A eco-sanitising pre-spray is also then applied to the upholstery. As with the stain treatments, this is also given time to dwell as it not only helps to kill bacteria, it also aids the release of soiling from the fibres of the upholstery.
The next step in the cleaning process it to gently agitate the material using a mixture of hot water & cleaning products. This gives an in depth clean to the material & works to breakdown any remaining soiling further.
Lastly, it is time for the rinse extraction, this is where the larger machine comes into play which extracts all the water, cleaning solutions and soiling/debris from the upholstery. This is where you really see how well the process works.
As Pete moved from one piece of upholstery to the other, he used an air-mover to help speed the drying process up for the customer. As the weather turns colder & damper, the drying times start to get longer so we advise to pop the heating on low for an hour or two post clean & opening the windows slightly to allow any moisture to escape.
Another job well done & the customer was certainly pleased with the results. Their upholstery looked much cleaner & fresher as a result of a deep clean.
