A productive day, well spent for two of our technicians, Pete & Mike this week when they cleaned & polished a travertine tiled floor that ran throughout a customers kitchen, diner & utility room in Cheltenham. Travertine is a type of limestone which often has a textured surface which can accumulate soil over time making them look dull & tired.
The first step in the cleaning process is to prepare the floor which means manually sweeping & vacuuming the floor to pick up as much surface debris as possible.

Once this has been done, it is time to apply an environmentally friendly stone cleaning solution to the travertine & use a rotary machine to gently agitate the floor & give it a thorough clean.

Next, a wet vac was used to pick up the resulting slurry & this step of the process is then repeated to ensure the maximum amount of soiling is removed. It was then time for the technicians to get on their hands & knees to manually clean the grout using a grout brush.

Once the tile & grout clean has been completed, the technicians used air-movers to completely dry the floor ready for the polish to be applied. On this occasion, 2 coats of impregnating seal were applied to the tiles, this is because they are particularly absorbent & applying multiple coats protects the floor from spillages & build ups.

As you can see from these photos, the floor was looking much cleaner & brighter & the finish of the polish makes them look fabulous!
