We were contacted earlier this month by a customer in Bath who was looking to get a rug, upholstery & wooden floorboards cleaned. Because of the hard floor element of this request, we arranged a suitable time with the customer to pop in & carry out a short survey. These surveys are a great way to determine the condition & specific requirements of the floor and enable us to not only provide the customer with a quotation but tailor the clean to their exact needs/wants.
Following on from that successful survey, Ben & Elijah spent a productive day yesterday carrying out the clean. The task was to clean 1 rug, 2 linen sofas plus a clean & application of wax to the wooden floor.
The upholstery clean started with a thorough vacuum to remove any surface debris. A stain treatment was then applied to all necessary areas along with an eco-sanitising pre-spray. Both of these solutions were given time to dwell so that the stains could be broken down as much as possible.
They then used hand tools to gently agitate hot water & cleaning products into the fabric of the sofa.
The final part of the process is the rinse extraction. This is where all the remaining products, water & soiling are extracted from the material providing a deep clean.

The clean of the rug was next & follows that of the method used on the upholstery;
- Pre-inspection & testing
- Dry extraction & agitation (to remove dry soils)
- Spot/stain treatments
- Deep cleaning/sanitising eco pre-spray
- Agitation (mechanical or by hand)
- Final clean (either modern low moisture or traditional wet extraction)
- Fringe treatments (if needed)
- Accelerated drying
Lastly, it was time to clean the wooden floor. Again, the cleaning method is very similar to those mentioned above with a few little tweaks. The floor is vacuumed and/or swept to remove surface debris, the rotary agitation machine is then used. This weighted machine gently cleans the floor whilst applying a mixture of hot water & an appropriate wood floor cleaning solution.

A wet vac is then used to extract all the resulting slurry. The floor is then rinsed to ensure all remaining soiling & products have been removed.
Once completed, the floor is left to dry by ventilating the room & using air-movers to accelerate the process.

Once the floor is completely dry, we applied a Fiddes floor wax which offers great durability & protection against future spillages.
Another great job carried out by the Green Man team!
