Successful early morning commercial upholstery clean in Monmouth

We were recently contacted by restaurant chain, Loungers as they were looking to have a very large sofa cleaned in Monmouth as the front of the cushions were beginning to look a little dull.

So this morning, our technician Pete had an early start as he headed off to Monmouth to clean the sofa before the restaurant opened.

The sofa was given a full deep clean using our tried & tested method of traditional rinse extraction which gets great results on a well used sofa such as this. The first step in the process is to vacuum the sofa, this removes as much of the surface debris as possible. Next up, Pete treated any notable stains & used a eco-sanitising pre spray which was given time to dwell in-order to break up as much as staining/soiling as possible.

Once enough time had passed, Pete then used an agitation brush to gently agitate the upholstery which helps bring any remaining soiling to the surface ready for the final part in the cleaning process.

Lastly, it is time for the traditional rinse extraction. This part of the process uses hot water to extract any remaining soiling & product residue.

The end result is a deep clean which is also a green clean & has left the sofa looking much cleaner, fresher & sanitised.

Another job well done by Pete!

Magnificent rug deep cleaning in Gloucester

Rug deep cleaning was the main task of the day for Pete on this recent visit to Tayton, Gloucester. There had been some fire damage that had created a lot of soil deposits in numerous rugs and items of upholstery that needed the Green Man deep cleaning process. There had also been some damage caused by the water used by the fire brigade to extinguish the fire.

Rug cleaning can be a very tricky process and often the technicians have to tread very carefully. Dye can easily migrate during the cleaning process which the technicians have to address and avoid impacting on other areas. Delicate fringing needs a lot of care and attention to avoid creating damage to the fibres too.

The dye migration pre test is the first step in the process for our technicians when cleaning rugs, it also indicates how the rug is likely to react to the cleaning process.

After the pre test has been done the technician moves on to a thorough vacuum of the front and back of the rug. Heavy soiling can be trapped in both these areas and this helps to remove as much as possible before getting deeper into the cleaning.

Any spots and stains are then treated before a wool safe eco sanitising pre spray is applied.

Agitation is the next step to disturb any stubborn soiling trapped down within the pile. This can be done by hand with a brush or by machine, depending on the need and the material.

Traditional rinse extraction, otherwise known as steam cleaning is the final step in the process which also offers the deepest level of clean and sanitisation. As you can see from the image above where the rug is halfway through the rinse extraction process, the dirt is efficiently and effectively lifted from the pile, leaving the rug not only visibly cleaner but sanitised throughout.

Once cleaned, the rugs are then left to dry. Where possible, we try to leave these in locations such as over chairs or bannisters to increase the air flow to the surface area to aid in thorough and quick drying. With larger rugs we advise on hiring an air mover to assist in drying the rug as efficiently as possible.

The sofas in this property were also given the Green Man deep cleaning process to remove soiling, odour and staining caused by the fire and the extinguishing process.

As you can see the cushions here have also been left propped to encourage air flow around for an even and speedy dry.

As you can see from the images, the rugs and sofas are looking fresh and rejuvenated. You can see from the waste water image the amount of soiling that was being held in these items. The owners can now rest assured their furniture and rugs are clean and sanitised and are left more resistant to future staining as part of the process.

Leather upholstery cleaning in Bath with wonderful results

Leather upholstery is a popular choice for many homes due to its durability and sleek appearance. Leather is hard-wearing and resilient to family life.

Over time, leather can become worn and lose its lustre and colour and that is where we come in!

Ollie was tasked with cleaning this lovely leather sofa in Bath recently. As you can see from the images above, the sofa has some signs of wear and tear. This is particularly visible in the middle, this is where people are sitting the most frequently and clothes have caught and scratched the leather over time.

The image above shows the process of the clean, you can see the left hand side has been cleaned and protected and the right side is yet to be done.

The process for cleaning leather is a hand clean manual process involving application of a leather cleaner to remove the surface dirt then application of a leather treatment and buffing. The leather treatment rejuvenates the leather and evens out many of the scuffs and scratches.

Impressive upholstery clean of large sofas in Bristol

Ollie was tasked with the full deep clean of some large upholstery in Bristol recently. Upon arrival, the upholstery was assessed and the area was prepared ready for the Green Man environmentally cleaning process to begin. This includes protecting the area around the sofas to ensure no dirt or water is transferred to any other areas not being cleaned on this visit.

These sofas were very large and there were lots of cushions to be treated so Ollie needed to be very organised to ensure nothing got missed and all the hard to reach areas were thoroughly deep cleaned.

After an initial vacuum with an industry standard vacuum to remove all the debris it was on to treating any stains.

This one did have a stain from pets that needed to be addressed before moving on to the general clean.

After an eco-sanitising pre spray it was time to move on to the rinse extraction. This process is also known as steam cleaning and gets deep down into the fabric to remove embedded dirt and bacteria.

The large volume of cushions needing to be cleaned here meant that Ollie had to try to find ways to leave the cushions and the frame so that they can dry thoroughly.

You can see in the images that Ollie positioned the cushions in a way in which air flow can get around the surfaces as much as possible, as well as using a fan to increase the air flow and speed up the process.

We generally advise our customers to allow 4-5 hours for items to be fully dry post clean. This can be sped up by using methods, like Ollie has here, to increase the air movement around the upholstery. This can include opening windows and having the heating on.

Professional clean of carpets, upholstery and sisal rugs near Bath.

Several members of the team were working together on professional carpet, upholstery and sisal rug cleaning near Bath this week.

The size of the rugs meant it was wise for several technicians to work together to achieve some outstanding results in a timely manner.

Deep eco friendly carpet cleaning in Bath

These beautiful light coloured carpets were given the thorough Green Man professional service.

This included a combination of vacuuming, spot/stain treatments, an eco sanitising pre-spray, rotary agitation and traditional rinse extraction.

This process ensures that any deep down embedded dirt is lifted and removed and the carpets are sanitised and refreshed. They are back looking at their best following this deep clean.

Next up it was time to tackle the large sisal rugs.

The cellulosic fibres in sisal mean that it cannot be treated with the same method as other carpets. If we did clean sisal in the same method, it would become overwet and the structure would break down. This would ruin the sisal.

The first stage for cleaning sisal is a thorough deep vacuum. With the professional vacuums we use we are able to adjust the rotating brush bar to ensure it is working deep down into the fibres of the sisal to remove deep down embedded dirt.

After the vacuuming it is time for the application of a cleaning compound, which you can see here in the image to the right.

The cleaning compound is a natural, biodegradable material that can absorb any soiling that has been resistant to the vacuuming.

This method is known as VLM, very low moisture cleaning and allows sisal to be cleaned without damaging any fibres.

Once the compound has dried it is then vacuumed once more.

This sisal is then left freshened and deodorised.

Jon and Ollie can be seen here working together to ensure all the VLM compound is thoroughly removed from these large sisal rugs.

The team also worked on some upholstery to remove some spot stains. You can read more about our stain removal process here.
