In our previous blog, we mentioned how nice it was when you have repeat customers, & this was the case again at the end of August when we were booked to carry out some commercial carpet cleaning for a company that we visited last summer. This time it was a school based in Sherborne, due to the scale of this job, we sent a team of technicians to spend a productive day cleaning an array of carpets throughout the main school, 6th form centre & performing arts centre.
The areas to be cleaned included a mixture of stairs, corridors & classrooms. All these areas receive a heavy volume of foot traffic so would really benefit from a deep clean. There was also furniture that needed to be moved prior to cleaning in the classrooms so it really was a case of all hands on deck!

We split the team into pairs & gave them each an area to tackle. All the carpets were cleaned using our tried & tested method;
- Dry Extraction/Vacuuming – This is where we vacuum all the carpets first to remove any surface debris/soiling
- Spot/Stain Treatment – We treat any stain that we see. The solutions applied are then given time to dwell to breakdown as much of the stain as possible
- Eco-Sanitising Pre-Spray – This is applied to all of the carpets & like the stain treatment above, this is also given time to dwell. This ensures all of the carpet is covered & helps to not only breakdown any stubborn stains further but also general debris/soiling.
- Rotary Agitation – This is done via a machine & gently agitates the carpets with hot water & cleaning solutions to provide a thorough clean.
- Traditional Rinse Extraction – This part of the process is carried out using a reasonably large & noisy machine. This extracts all the remaining water, solutions & soiling from the carpets. This final step provides the ultimate finish in providing a deep clean & achieving great results.

The team worked so hard that very few photos were taken! However the above show Ben casting an eye over our trainee technician’s skills & an air-mover in use, helping to dry the corridor carpets whilst we moved onto another area.
This video also shows you a little snippet of the work as it progresses & also demonstrates how noisy some of the machines can be!
As with the majority of our commercial work, this scheduled clean was a result of conducting a survey of the property prior to supplying a quotation.
