Last month a customer in Easton, Bristol reached out to us who was thinking about having the wooden floor in her kitchen & hallway sanded as she was concerned with the discolouration in certain areas. Our sanding specialist visited the customer to carry out a short survey so he could see exactly what type of wood flooring she had & see what could realistically be achieved. He found it to be an engineered oak floor that had been laid approximately 20 years ago. It was showing signs of deterioration where the lacquer had worn away & there was also some water damage where water had seeped into the floor from the customers dog bowls as shown in the photos below.

Following on from the successful survey, we called back this week to carry out the dustless floor sanding. Our technician used a combination of Bona Flexi Sand system & Festool hand tools, all with dust extraction to address the floor which rapidly took off the old finish.
Our technicians took off all the kickboards prior to starting to ensure the sanding went as tight as possible to the edges.
They took the floor all the way up to 120 grit & then applied a primer.

On day 2 of the job, the floor needed to be sanded back again to 120 grit. This was due to the primer being water based & it has raised the grain of the wood. Carrying out the sanding again helps to achieve the most flawless finish possible. Once this had been completed, our technicians applied 3 coats of Bona Mega which is a hard wearing lacquer which is perfect for areas that are subject to heavy domestic use.

As you can see from these images, once completed the floor looked incredible, it really was a huge improvement that left the floor looking as good as new. Great job, well done!
